Cigna formed in 1982 from the merger of the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company and INA Corporation. INA Corporation was founded in 1792 and therefore Cigna is sometimes said to be founded in 1792. Cigna covers over 95 million customers in more than 30 countries and jurisdictions.
